FAQS

  • Yes, EMDR Intensives are designed for individuals seeking focused, structured support for trauma, grief, PTSD, anxiety, depression, phobias, and other emotional challenges.

Whether you are new to EMDR or have already experienced standard EMDR sessions, an Intensive can complement your ongoing therapy by offering a concentrated period of therapeutic work.

It’s important that your therapist is aware of your decision to participate in an EMDR Intensive, as we provide EMDR Intensives as a short-term intervention only and do not offer ongoing psychological care. Integrating this work with your existing therapy can enhance continuity of care and may influence your broader treatment plan.

We are happy to collaborate with your therapist to ensure the EMDR Intensive aligns with your therapeutic goals and supports your overall care.

  • No, Lumify Health provides EMDR Intensives as a short-term, focused intervention only. We do not offer ongoing psychological care or long-term therapy. We encourage all clients to maintain their relationship with a primary therapist or referrer to support their ongoing therapeutic journey.

  • Waiting times can vary depending on demand. During your initial Discovery Call, we will let you know the next available appointment and discuss scheduling options.

Telehealth appointments allow you to participate in your Intensive from the comfort of your own home. We will provide additional guidelines to help you prepare your space and optimise the experience, ensuring your sessions are as focused and effective as possible.

  • Yes. At Lumify Health, we take care to ensure you are well prepared for your EMDR Intensive. Before your Intensive, you will attend at least one 90-minute pre-Intensive Assessment session. This session helps us get to know you, understand your goals, complete necessary questionnaires, and collaboratively develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

You will also receive a comprehensive Guidebook, which serves as both a guide and an activity book. It includes practical information about the EMDR Intensive process as well as reflective tasks and tools to support your preparation, processing, and integration throughout your healing journey.

  • We offer half-day, full-day, and multi-day EMDR Intensive packages. For detailed pricing and inclusions, please visit our Pricing and Packages page.

  • You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for part of your EMDR Intensive, Pre-Assessment, Planning and Integration sessions if you meet certain conditions. Rebates will vary depending on your eligibility, circumstances and Medicare safety net.

As with traditional therapy, you will need to visit your General Practitioner (GP) to discuss your mental health concerns and goals. If appropriate, your GP may provide a Mental Health Care Plan along with a referral letter to Lumify Health. These are required to access Medicare rebates for psychology services.

  • If your Extras cover includes psychology services, you may be eligible for a partial rebate on your Intensive fee through your private health insurer. The exact rebate will vary depending on your health fund and individual policy.

Please note that Medicare rebates and private health claims cannot be applied to the same session—you can only use one funding option per appointment.

  • Yes, EMDR Intensives may be covered by third-party funders such as TAC, WorkCover, and VOCAT, but you must obtain written pre-approval for both the pre-Intensive interview and Intensive sessions before starting.
