What to Expect
Our unique approach combines research, expertise, and experience to deliver a balanced EMDR Intensive designed for focused, effective trauma work.
-
Whether you choose a half-day, full-day, or multiple-day Intensive, your experience is carefully structured and personalised to your unique needs and therapeutic goals.
We begin with a complimentary Initial Consult call to discuss your needs, answer any questions, and ensure the Intensive model is a suitable option. If moving forward, we schedule at least one 90-minute pre-Intensive assessment session (online or in person). This comprehensive interview allows us to get to know you, understand your history, goals, and current challenges, and complete any necessary questionnaires to track your progress.
Your EMDR therapist will develop a tailored Intensive plan in collaboration with you—setting clear goals for the day and planning appropriate follow-up care, including coordination with your primary therapist or referrer as needed.
You’ll also receive a Guidebook to help you prepare for your Intensive. This serves as both a preparation guide and a reflective workbook to support your experience.
-
Your Intensive day is designed to provide focused, uninterrupted EMDR therapy at your pace, in a client-centred and responsive way. The schedule incorporates planned breaks, grounding activities, movement, and—where possible—time in nature, as research suggests these elements may support processing and integration.
Additional optional activities such as trauma-informed yoga or massage—designed to complement your therapeutic work—will also be available in the future through Lumify Health.
-
To consolidate your therapeutic gains, a 60-minute Integration session is scheduled approximately one week after your Intensive. This session provides space to reflect, integrate, and discuss next steps.
Where appropriate and with your consent, we can also provide a summary report for your referrer, primary therapist, or funding body. This report outlines your progress toward your therapeutic goals, includes symptom tracking (using standardised outcome measures), and offers treatment recommendations to support your ongoing care.
