Partnering to Enhance Client Care Through EMDR Intensives
We value the trusted relationships clients have with their primary therapists and care teams.
Our EMDR Intensives are designed to complement—not replace—your therapeutic work. We offer focused, short-term EMDR therapy in a customised, intensive format, providing your clients with an opportunity to engage deeply in trauma-focused work within a condensed timeframe.
Common reasons to refer your clients:
Clinical Reasons
Single-incident trauma (e.g., accidents, medical trauma, assaults), or complex trauma or early attachment wounds
A client’s progress has stagnated, or there are stuck points in therapy
They require focused work on a specific traumatic memory or theme
A client is seeking to regain momentum in therapy after stagnation or setbacks
They are at a critical therapeutic juncture where intensive processing may support a breakthrough
The client is preparing for a major life event (e.g., surgery, childbirth, returning to work) and needs focused trauma work
They are experiencing high distress or dysregulation, requiring intensive support within a contained timeframe
There has been limited benefit from talk-based approaches alone, so EMDR is being explored as an adjunctive approach
Practical & Logistical Reasons
A client has difficulty attending weekly sessions due to work, study, or family commitments
Their goals are not being achieved with standard 50-minute EMDR sessions
A client would prefer immersive, focused therapy formats over traditional weekly sessions
They have limited access to ongoing therapy (e.g., rural/remote location, extended travel planned)
A client requires trauma-focused work as part of a multidisciplinary care plan (e.g., pain management, rehabilitation)
Intensives are best suited for clients who are…
Already working with a primary therapist
Able to tolerate intense emotional work
Motivated for change
In stable mental and physical health
Seeking focused trauma resolution
Able to maintain safety between sessions (with coping skills and supports in place)
Not in immediate crisis or experiencing acute mental health instability
Willing to engage in preparation and follow-up work (e.g., assessment, integration)
Open to collaborative care between Lumify Health and their primary therapist/referrer
How we work with referring professionals
We’re here to be an ally in your client’s care—offering a focused, structured therapeutic experience that complements and respects your ongoing work with the client.
Initial Consultation
With your client’s consent, we’ll connect with you to understand the referral needs and coordinate treatment goals, ensuring alignment with your ongoing therapeutic work.
Treatment Planning
A customised EMDR Intensive schedule is developed based on the client’s goals, history, and readiness, with a focus on providing structured, trauma-focused care.
Post-Intensive Summary
Following the Intensive, you will receive a summary report outlining the therapeutic focus, client progress (including outcome measures where relevant), and recommendations for continued care.
Ongoing Support
We remain available for follow-up discussions, clarification, or additional referrals, and are happy to coordinate if a client is recommended for another Intensive in the future.
